Held every two years the Arctic Winter Games are a multi-sport and cultural event celebrating the athletes and cultures of the circumpolar North.
The Games bring together participants from regions including the Northwest Territories, Yukon, Nunavut, Northern Alberta, Nunavik, Alaska, Greenland, and the Sami region of Europe. Athletes compete in a blend of contemporary sports and traditional Arctic and Dene games, reflecting both competition and cultural heritage. Alongside the sporting events, the Games feature vibrant performances, art displays, and community celebrations that showcase northern traditions.
The next Arctic Winter Games will take place from March 8-15, 2026, in Whitehorse, Yukon.
