AWG 2024 - Call for Coaches: APPLY TODAY!

The NWT Soccer Association (NWT Soccer), in collaboration with its partners and members, strives to foster positive change in the lives of residents of the Northwest Territories.  

NWT Soccer is working to offer sustainable territory-wide programs and services for members to succeed in soccer and futsal.

Position Overview 
Selecting the appropriate coaching staff is the first step to ensure that Team NT players get the most out of their experience at the 2024 Arctic Winter Games (AWG).

The 2024 AWG Coaching Staff are responsible for identification, selection and development of their respective 2024 AWG Teams.
Position(s):
  • Head Coach – 2024 Arctic Winter Games U16 Male Futsal Team
  • Head Coach – 2024 Arctic Winter Games U16 Female Futsal Team
  • Head Coach – 2024 Arctic Winter Games U18 Male Futsal Team
  • Head Coach – 2024 Arctic Winter Games U18 Female Futsal Team

Team Composition
  • U16 Male & Female Team - Players Born in 2008 or later (U16)
  • U18 Male & Female Team - Players Born in 2006 or later (U18)
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Oversee the identification, selection, training and preparation of the Arctic Winter Games (AWG) athletes.
  • Act as an appropriate role model and chaperone, as identified by NWT Soccer’s policies and procedures, at all times on and off the field.
  • Ensure communication with athletes, parents and NWT Soccer is prompt and effective throughout the AWG process.
  • Be prepared to work as a team with their coaching colleagues in the lead-up to and during the AWG, attending all meetings where required.
Selection Criteria
Selection of coaches is based on, but not limited to, the following criteria:
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the game.
  • Current criminal record check with vulnerable sector check (contact your local RCMP for details) – to be supplied with application.
  • All applicants must be registered as a coach with NWT Soccer in the 2023-2024 season for their application to be considered.
  • Must be above the age of 18.
  • Valid passport or intention to acquire one.
  • Past coaching and playing experience.
  • Current coaching certification (Soccer for Life level at a minimum or willingness to obtain prior to the Games).   
  • Desire and intent to continue within the coaching certification program.
  • Completion of the E-learning Modules:
  • Available for the duration of Regional Futsal Camps and Territorial Tryouts.
In selecting the AWG coaching staff NWT Soccer may consider assessments of current and past coaching performance, feedback received from club, community and Team NWT programs, and other information deemed appropriate by the Technical Committee.
 
Reporting Relationship
Head Coaches report directly to the Executive Director.
