NWT Soccer Awards & 2024 Annual General Meeting

Attention all members and supporters of NWT Soccer,

As we approach the end of another remarkable season, it's time to recognize the outstanding contributions, achievements, and talent within our soccer community. After a temporary departure of our Awards program, NWT Soccer is thrilled to announce the opening of applications for our Annual Awards for the 2023-2024 year.

These awards are a testament to the dedication, passion, and sportsmanship displayed by individuals and teams throughout the season. We invite all members to submit nominations and applications for the following categories:

1. Female and Male Player of the Year: Recognizing one female and one male athlete in good standing with the Association. The individual(s) will have excelled in soccer at various levels of competition. This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated leadership and determination and has brought significant recognition to the sport of soccer. 

2. NWT Soccer Coach of the Year: Honoring a coach who has shown exemplary leadership, guidance, and dedication to the development of athletes and increasing the profile of soccer.

3. Overlander Sportsmanship of the Year: Celebrating an individual's commitment to fair play, respect for team members, opponents, and officials and ethical behaviour in soccer. This award recognizes an honest, straightforward and courteous soccer member who has inspired other soccer embers to play fira and be a "good sport". 

4. Paul Stipdonk Memorial - Life Member Award: Highlighting an individual in recognition of their long-time services and distinguished contributions to soccer in the Northwest Territories. 

5. Northwestel Volunteer of the Year: Recognizing the invaluable contributions of individuals who have dedicated themselves to the growth and development of soccer within the Northwest Territories.

6. NWT Soccer Referee of the Year: Acknowledging a referee's dedication to leadership, contributions to local soccer development, and promotion of fair play and ethical behaviour in soccer.  

We encourage all members to take this opportunity to recognize deserving individuals and teams within our soccer community. Nominations can be submitted by coaches, players, volunteers, or any member of NWT Soccer.

We are pleased to extend an invitation to the NWT Soccer Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will be hosted as a hybrid event, allowing online and in-person participation. The AGM will take place on June 8, 2024 at 10:00 AM (MST).

Members can choose between attending the AGM in person or joining virtually. We would greatly appreciate your active participation in discussing important matters concerning our Association.

Proxy Voting: For members unable to attend, proxy voting options will be available. Proxy forms can be obtained by contacting the Association's office or our website.

New Business & Questions: Members are encouraged to submit any New Business and Questions they may have in advance of the meeting. Please send to executivedirector@nwtsoccer.ca by May 24, 2024. This allows us to prepare a comprehensive agenda and responses for the AGM.

Registration: Members must register for in-person attendance to ensure adequate seating. Details on registration and the virtual meeting link will be provided closer to the event date. Please register on the NWT Soccer website.
