We've called a special meeting for Wednesday May 9, at 5:30pm (3rd Floor Boardroom 4908 49th Street), to take a look at a new approach to fundraising for soccer activities in the NWT.

For many years, fundraising related to NWT Soccer – unlike many other sports, and unlike many other jurisdictions – has relied on what amount to individual 'accounts'. Each individual fundraises a sum of money and that money is held in their name by NWT Soccer. 

An alternative model is having one 'account' per team, rather than per individual. Fundraising as a team to reach a specific target rather than hitting individual benchmarks comes with a few challenges, but it brings a strong set of benefits, too.

We believe shifting focus from individuals to teams when we fundraise will have a significant positive impact on our athletes territory-wide, help to alleviate some uncertainty around current fundraising practices in the NWT, and enable the fundraising process to run much more smoothly from beginning to end.

As fundraising almost always falls to parents in some shape or form, we believe all of our members and families deserve input as we contemplate this change. That's why we're holding the special meeting. It's not an emergency meeting or a full AGM, it's simply a chance to discuss how we collectively fundraise and make any changes we think can improve the experience for everyone – from athletes and parents to coaches and staff.
